Privacy Policy
Last updated: 26 August 2026 · Version 2026-08-26.v1
The short version
- We sell your enquiry. When you complete a form and verify your phone number, we sell the information you gave us to a licensed Canadian insurance broker or advisor so they can contact you.
- We are paid for it. JustRates Inc. receives a referral fee for every enquiry we sell. That fee is how this service is funded and why it is free to you.
- We are not a broker. We are a performance marketing company. We do not sell insurance, give advice, or issue policies.
- You are in control. Nothing is sold or shared until you verify your number, and you can withdraw consent or ask us to delete your information at any time.
Quickest Coverage is a lead referral service operated by JustRates Inc. ("JustRates", "we", "us", "our"), a performance marketing company incorporated in Canada. This policy explains what personal information we collect through quickestcoverage.ca, why we collect it, who we sell and disclose it to, and the choices you have.
It is written to meet our obligations under the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), substantially similar provincial privacy legislation where it applies, Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL), and the CRTC's Unsolicited Telecommunications Rules including the National Do Not Call List (DNCL).
1. What we are, and what we are not
JustRates Inc. is a performance marketing company. Our business is generating consumer enquiries and selling them to businesses that want to speak to those consumers.
- We are not an insurance company, insurer, or underwriter.
- We are not an insurance broker, agent, or advisor, and we are not licensed as one.
- We do not issue, underwrite, administer, or service insurance policies, and we do not give insurance advice or recommend products.
- We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting for any lender, bank, insurer, or government body.
What we do is connect you with licensed Canadian insurance brokers and advisors who do those things, and we are paid for making that connection.
2. What we collect
Information you give us. When you complete a form on this site:
- Your first and last name, email address, and phone number.
- Your province of residence.
- The coverage amount you are interested in, your age, and your gender.
- Whether you have used tobacco or nicotine in the past 12 months.
- The answer to the additional question on the page you used. Depending on the page this may be the purpose of the coverage or, on our diabetes page, the type of diabetes you have.
Health information. Your answers about tobacco or nicotine use and, where applicable, diabetes are sensitive health information. We collect them only because a broker cannot prepare a meaningful quote without them, we obtain your express consent before they are sold or shared, and we do not use them for any other purpose.
Information we collect automatically. Your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, how far through a form you get, the referring website, and any advertising parameters in the link you arrived on (for example UTM tags and click identifiers such as fbclid). We store these in your browser's local storage and in a first-party cookie so we can attribute your enquiry to the campaign that brought you here and measure our advertising.
Consent records. When you verify your number we record the date and time, your IP address, your browser user agent, the page you were on, and the version and fingerprint of the exact consent wording shown to you. We keep this so that both you and we have a reliable record of what you agreed to.
3. Phone verification
Before your enquiry is submitted we text a one-time six-digit code to the number you entered and ask you to type it back. This is a verification step, not a marketing message. We use Twilio for it, so your phone number is transmitted to Twilio solely to deliver and check that code. Carrier message and data rates may apply.
If you do not complete verification, your enquiry is not submitted, not sold, and not shared with anyone.
4. Why we collect it, and your express consent
We collect this information for one purpose: to sell it to a licensed Canadian insurance broker or advisor so they can contact you and prepare a quote.
By completing phone verification you give your express, informed consent for us to:
- sell, share, and transfer the information you provided, including your health information, to one or more licensed Canadian insurance brokers, agents, advisors, and their service providers;
- receive compensation for doing so; and
- contact you, and permit those parties to contact you, by telephone (including automated or pre-recorded calls), text message, and email about your enquiry, at the number and email address you provided, including where that number is registered on the National Do Not Call List.
This consent is not a condition of purchasing anything, and there is no cost to you. If you would prefer not to give it, do not complete verification.
5. Who we sell and disclose your information to
Buyers. We sell your enquiry to licensed Canadian insurance brokers, agents, or advisory organisations. In most cases a single buyer receives it and a single advisor contacts you, though more than one partner may be involved in servicing your enquiry. Once transferred, that buyer is an independent controller of your information and handles it under its own privacy policy, which it will provide on request. You can ask us for the current list of partners at any time by emailing our privacy officer.
Service providers. Providers who process information on our behalf and only on our instructions: hosting and infrastructure providers, our SMS verification provider (Twilio), and analytics and advertising measurement providers. This includes Meta Platforms, to which we may send a hashed, non-reversible version of your email address and phone number so advertising performance can be measured.
What we do not do. We do not sell your information to advertisers or data brokers outside the insurance referral purpose described here, we do not add you to unrelated marketing lists, and we do not publish or list your contact details.
Legal. We may disclose information where required by law, or to establish, exercise, or defend a legal claim.
6. How we are paid
You pay us nothing, ever. We are paid a referral fee by the buyer for each enquiry we sell. The fee is paid to us by the buyer and does not increase the premium of any policy you take out. We disclose this because you are entitled to know what commercial interest sits behind a free service.
7. CASL and your messaging consent
Commercial electronic messages we send are sent by JustRates Inc., and where a message is sent on behalf of a buyer, that buyer is identified in the message. Every commercial message includes our identity, contact information, and a working unsubscribe mechanism that stays valid for at least 60 days. We action unsubscribe requests within 10 business days, and usually immediately.
To stop messages: reply STOP to any text, use the unsubscribe link in any email, or email our privacy officer. Withdrawing consent from us does not automatically withdraw it from a buyer who already received your enquiry, so tell them directly as well, or ask us and we will pass the request on.
8. Where your information goes
Our infrastructure and service providers may store or process information in Canada, the United States, or elsewhere. Where information is processed outside Canada it may be accessible to the courts, law enforcement, and national security authorities of that country under its laws. We use providers who contractually commit to a comparable standard of protection.
9. How long we keep it
We keep enquiry records for as long as needed for the purpose above and to meet our legal, tax, and record-keeping obligations, and in any event no longer than 24 months from your last interaction with us unless a longer period is required by law. Consent records are kept for 3 years after consent is withdrawn or expires, because we may need to evidence them. Advertising and attribution cookies expire after 90 days.
10. Your rights
- Access. Ask what personal information we hold about you and how it has been used and disclosed.
- Correction. Ask us to correct anything inaccurate or incomplete.
- Deletion. Ask us to delete your information. We will, unless we are required to keep a record.
- Withdrawal of consent. Withdraw consent to be contacted, or to further sale of your information, at any time. Withdrawal does not undo a sale that has already happened.
- Advertising. Limit ad tracking in your browser and device settings and through the ad preference controls of the platform serving the ad.
We respond to requests within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity first.
11. Protecting your information
Information is transmitted over encrypted connections, buyer transfers are authenticated, and access is limited to the people who need it for the work described here. No system is perfect. If a breach creates a real risk of significant harm to you we will notify you and report it to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, and keep records of breaches as required.
12. Children
This site is for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.
13. Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date and version at the top. Where a change materially affects how we use information you already gave us, we will seek fresh consent rather than rely on the old one.
14. Contact us
Our Privacy Officer handles every question, access request, correction, deletion, and concern. We respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our answer, tell us and we will escalate it internally and set out the further options open to you.
